By: Jacob Pitcher, Ryan Schommer, and Jack Iverson

You sit down in the Horizon Middle School cafetorium, and begin to hear a harmonious chorus of voices. Their voices fill the room, and instantly you're glad you came… to the Horizon Middle School 8th Grade Choir Concert.

Out of the 8th Graders surveyed, 52 out of 210 are going/went to the concert on Monday, October 18. 25.97% (averaged out between both graphs) of the 8th graders who are in Choir, as shown on these charts below.

Here at Horizon we have many students with many music tastes. The genres of music listened to at our school range from country to K-pop to Shreksophone. At the concert you might have heard some of your favorite genres if you went.

In an interview with a Choir student, Avery Hoyt this question (along with other questions) was, “What’s your favorite part about being in Choir?” Avery Hoyt, then said, “My favorite part about being in choir is definitely the community you meet. Choir people are so creative and kind to everyone. I love knowing that I'm in an amazing group of people, and that we're bonded by a common goal.” The next question asked was, “What do you think about this year's Choir class?” Avery then answered, “This year's class is very very talented. One of the best school choirs that we've had, as far as I know. It's also one of the larger choirs at Horizon.” The final question asked was, “Are you looking forward to this upcoming concert?” She replied, “I'm always excited for the opening concert of the year! Seeing a crowd always makes me a bit nervous, but it's so fun performing for people, I always feel good anyway.”

At the concert, there were a variety of genres, and many different solos. One of the solos was a sea shanty, and it was all sung by the bass, and tenor singers of the class. There were 5 songs played, and you could hear each and every 8th Grade choir student participating. You could definitely tell that they tried their best. The piano sounded beautiful going along with the singers, and the songs were definitely intriguing. If anyone went to the concert, it was definitely great to listen to!

In a survey the choir students were asked how ready they were for the concert. The survey presents us with the Choir students' thoughts about the concerts, and how prepared they are. Many of the students consider themselves to be very ready. Others said they are somewhat ready, and some are not ready one bit.

After reading this you should know more about the 8th Grade Choir concert, and some music at HMS. Hope you enjoyed it, and thanks for reading!
