Halloween Costumes

Aubrey Johnson and Norah Stafford

On October 29, watch out for students dressed up in their spooky costumes! From characters in a TV show to serial killers, the HMS students will be gorgeous either way. These 6th to 8th grade students will be shopping for their costumes in various stores such as Spirit Halloween, Target, and Dollar Tree. However, about 16 percent of the students surveyed are shopping online. The surveys have an even balance between not wearing a costume and wearing one on Halloween or to the dance on Friday night.

67 students are dressing up with their friend group, and although others are just going with friends, others are wearing matching costumes such as Alvin and the Chipmunks, for example. Most come up with these ideas themselves, but some are inspired by online sites, family suggestions, and TikTok thirst traps. Even though half the students at Horizon aren’t dressing up, the other half are dressing for the fun of it, the tradition, and the sweet candy. What will you be for Halloween?
