Favorite video game

This is the favorite video game section of the newspaper. By Nolan and Mikey

Did you know that video games provide a 23% learning gain over traditional learnings? This article will be about people's favorite video game.

Results of the google forms

First off, a survey was made to see what console everyone plays on. We did a survey, and the survey found that most people play on mobile, coming in with 27.3% of the responses. Second was Xbox, with 26.3% of the responses. Next was PlayStation with 16.4% of all responses, after that was PC, with 15.2% of the responses. Lastly was Nintendo Switch, with 14.8% of responses. This concludes that the top platforms played on are Xbox and mobile.

In that survey, the question what is your favorite video game was asked. More than 400 people responded to the survey, and the top three answers of all of them were as follows. In third, the Mario franchise, in second place, Roblox. And the favorite video game in all of the school… Minecraft.

Now that you know what our school's favorite video games are, let’s tell you a little bit about them. First off Mario. The first installment of the Mario franchise was Donkey Kong, released in 1981, and the first actual Mario was released in 1983. The mario series has sold over 750 million copies. That is a LOT. A fact most of you probably know, Mario was made by Nintendo. And lastly, Mario’s full name is just Mario Mario.

Next game we will talk about is Roblox. Roblox was made in 2006. It has an average of 43.2 million online users. The founders of roblox are David Bazuck, and Erik Cassel. Roblox is a system where users can create and play games created by others in the Roblox community. Roblox has over 350 million downloads. It also has many platforms you can play on. These consist of PC, Xbox, Mobile, and Playstation. Roblox has 40 million+ games inside of it.

Lastly we will talk about Minecraft. Minecraft is a free world, sandbox type of game where you can build, destroy, fight, and more. Minecraft’s first version was released in May of 2009, but the official release wasn’t until 2011. In the 2009 version, its name was just, Cave game. This version was also made in just six days. One Minecraft day is 20 minutes, and a year is 121 hours. Minecraft was originally created by Markus Persson, aka Notch. In 2014 Microsoft bought Minecraft for 2.5 billion dollars.
