Eligibility for Membership

1. Current Gladys Porter Early College High School students in grades ninth through eleventh grade are eligible for membership in the Porter Belles and Beaus Dance Team. Eighth grade students from Faulk, Oliveira, and Stell Middle Schools are also eligible for membership.

 2. Transferring students (in or out of district) must participate in the tryout procedure and submit all required paperwork. Students who transfer after the tryout date will only be admitted if he/she has already gone through the audition process of the previous high school.

 3. Candidates for membership must be a member in good financial standing with all student organizations of which they are or have been a member of at any BISD campus. 

4. Students who are eligible for participation with the  Porter Belles and Beaus Dance Team must comply and follow the required tryout procedures. 

5. All members at the middle school and high school level must provide documentation that they have received and passed a physical examination from a physician licensed to practice in the state of Texas during the calendar year. The documentation must indicate that the student has been examined and is physically able to participate with the Porter Belles and Beaus Dance Team. This physical exam documentation must be submitted by April 14th.

 6. Physical Examinations should be dated after April 1st to make valid for all UIL team sports for the 2023-2024 school year. 

7. If student is accepted in the Varsity Dance Team they must be enrolled in the Performance Dance class for the 2022-2023 school year. JV must enroll in any dance class of their choice.

 8. Chosen dance team members, and their parents/guardians must attend the official parent meeting, sign all required forms and pay all fees on selected deadlines. Failure to sign and turn in paper work by designated date or miss payment deadlines may result in being suspended from the team.

9. Each candidate must submit the application forms found in the tryout packet by 5:00pm on Monday, January 30th  prior to tryouts. 

10. Members who are selected will perform at least once every semester, but will audition for specific routines throughout the year. 

11. Dancers must maintain a passing average every six weeks to maintain membership in the team.
