Support Birdville FFA

Several community members have asked us for a needs list to help support this program. Below are items that would be an asset to Birdville Agriscience and FFA. Please contact Erin Logan or Haylee Boyle for information on items. 

1. Official Dress- Official Dress is the standard attire students wear for contests, ceremonies, and any time they officially represent our chapter. It helps create a professional, unified look and teaches students the importance of showing up prepared and dressed for success. Official Dress also levels the playing field—everyone looks the same, which keeps the focus on their skills, not their clothes. Having the proper pieces ensures students can fully participate in leadership events, competitions, and awards.

Men: White long-sleeve button-down, black dress slacks, dress shoes/ boots

Women: White long-sleeve button-down, black knee-length pencil skirt, black sheer pantyhose, black closed-toed heels (no more than 2 inches and no embellishments)

2. Metal- Our ag mechanics students are always needing various types of metal for their projects. Students often pay out-of-pocket for materials. If you would like to sponsor a student and their project, please reach out to Mr. Clifton.

3. Hoses and Spray Nozzles- Hoses and nozzles are used for daily cleaning, temperature control, and disease prevention, specifically for washing floors, cooling and bathing animals, and filling water tanks. 

4. Truckload of Cedar Shavings- We would love a truckload of cedar shavings to keep our arenas and work areas clean, safe, and show-ready. The shavings help create a good footing so animals don’t slip, reduce dust and odor, and absorb moisture—making it easier for students to practice showmanship and care for their animals in a comfortable, professional-quality space.

5. Stall Mats- Stall mats in our ag barn provide a safer, more reliable surface for our animals and the students working with them. Dirt floors can become uneven, muddy, or slick, which increases the risk of injuries. Stall mats create a stable, cushioned, non-slip surface that protects animals’ joints and keeps the area cleaner and more sanitary. They’re essential for maintaining a safe, healthy environment and making daily care and training easier for our students.

6. Outdoor Fencing Materials—We need fencing materials so we can create more outdoor turnout space for our animals. Right now, our available space is limited, and animals need safe, secure areas where they can move freely, exercise, and spend time outside. More turnout space helps reduce stress, improves overall health, and gives students a better, safer environment to work with their animals.

7. Aluminum for Cattle Panels - Our welding department is planning to build panels to take to shows for our rapidly growing cattle show team. A donation of aluminum, a financial donation, or the pre-fabbed panels would greatly benefit the cattle show team. 

8. Tarps for Cattle Panels—These tarps attach to the above-mentioned panels. They keep hay, feedstuff, and other animals from reaching through the panels at shows, which is beneficial for biosecurity and the health of the animals we haul. 

9. 2 x 6 or 2 x 8 Wood Planks- We use wood planks in the pens and arenas to help keep shavings in. Over time, they rot and break apart, making it a safety hazard for students and animal projects.

10. Pen Panels- We need new pen panels to keep our animals safely and securely housed. Over time, panels can bend, rust, or loosen, which makes them less reliable. Strong, sturdy panels prevent animals from escaping or injuring themselves and give students a safe environment to feed, clean, and work with their projects. Upgrading panels helps us maintain a barn that’s safe, durable, and ready for daily student use. 

11. Wheelbarrows- We need additional wheelbarrows because students use them constantly for hauling feed, shavings, and cleaning out pens. With so many daily chores and multiple students working at once, having enough wheelbarrows keeps the barn running smoothly and safely. They help cut down on time, prevent students from carrying heavy loads by hand, and make barn chores more manageable for everyone. 

12. Cinder Blocks- We need cinder blocks to help level feed pans, support water buckets, and stabilize equipment around the barn. They’re simple, but they’re incredibly useful for creating safe, steady setups so animals can eat and drink without tipping things over. Cinder blocks also help students set up their animal areas in a clean and organized way, which keeps the barn safer and more efficient.
