Our Commitment to Safety
Expect Zero, Goal Zero
Goal Zero is BHI's unwavering commitment to achieving a workplace free from injuries, illnesses, and incidents. It focuses on creating a culture where safety is prioritized in every task, with the expectation of zero unsafe conditions and behaviors. By fostering a shared awareness of hazards and safety practices, Goal Zero aims to protect every employee and ensure that safety is integrated into every aspect of the workday. It is a continuous, collective effort to maintain a safe environment and prevent any harm, striving for the highest standard of safety excellence.
The BHI Five: My Commitment to Safety
The BHI Five outlines five critical safety commitments aimed at ensuring a culture of safety across all projects. It emphasizes hazard identification, thorough inspections, clear communication, ownership of safety, and swift reporting and response. These commitments align with the Goal Zero initiative. By committing to these practices, BHI employees contribute to a proactive safety culture, aiming for zero harm in every aspect of their work, thereby reinforcing the goal of preventing incidents and injuries on site.
Life Saving Rules and Hazard Identification
Life-saving rules are essential safety practices that must be followed to protect the lives of employees and prevent serious incidents or fatalities. These rules focus on key hazards that have the potential to cause the most significant harm and should not be compromised under any circumstances. At BHI, hazard identification plays a critical role in ensuring the safety of all personnel on site. Employees are trained to recognize potential hazards before beginning any task and to take proactive steps to mitigate these risks.
Each division within BHI shall determine a specific list of non-negotiable safety rules that must be adhered to in their particular line of work. These non-negotiables are the baseline safety expectations that every employee is responsible for maintaining, regardless of the situation. They reflect the unique hazards and risks that each division faces, ensuring that safety standards are tailored to the specific tasks at hand. By establishing these non-negotiables, BHI ensures that safety is not only prioritized but is part of the culture, with zero tolerance for unsafe actions or conditions.
