A student is eligible to complete the Common App Account Matching process if they have:
Created a Common App account on Common App.
Added at least one college on Common App.
Signed the Common App FERPA Release Authorization on Common App. When the student submits the form, the date, time and IP address will be logged for record keeping purposes.
1. From Naviance Student, navigate to Colleges > Colleges I'm Applying To.
2. If the accounts are not matched, a message will display at the top of the window, along with a Match Accounts button.
3. Click Match Accounts.
1. From Naviance Student, navigate to Colleges > Colleges I'm Applying To.
2. Click the Edit Pencil icon in line with the impacted college.
3. Put a check in the box next to I've submitted my application.
4. Scroll to the top or bottom of the page and click Update Applications.
If something changes for the student and he or she needs to cancel the letter of recommendation request, the cancel option is available as long as the status is still listed as Requested. Once the status is changed to in progress or submitted, a student will no longer be able to cancel a request from Naviance Student.
1. From Naviance Student, navigate to Colleges > Apply to College> Letter of Recommendation.
2. On the recommendation status page, students will click the X button and review the cancellation message.
3. The student will click Confirm Cancel Request to confirm their action.
4. A success message will appear indicating the request for successfully canceled.
1. From Naviance Student, navigate to Colleges > Apply to College > Letters of Recommendation.
2. On the recommendation request page click Add Request.
3. From the Add new request page, select the desired teacher from the drop-down menu.
The student should determine if they want the teacher to write a letter of recommendation for specific colleges on their College's I'm Applying To list or for all current and future colleges they add to their list.
5. Click the Radio button next to the appropriate selection.
Scenario 1: If the student selects Choose specific colleges from your Colleges I'm Applying To list, all colleges show in student's list. The student should check the box for the specific college(s) teacher should write recommendations or check Select All if the teacher should write a letter that can be sent to all colleges.
Scenario 2: If the student selects All current and future colleges I add to my Colleges I'm Applying To list, colleges on student's list are not shown. (Selecting this option indicates you want the teacher's recommendation to be submitted to every college you apply.)
6. The student can add a personal note (up to 3000 characters) to the teacher and highlight any important aspects of their applications (such as first choice schools, early decision applications, intended major or degree of study), that they may want the teacher to consider when writing a letter of recommendation.
7. The student should click Submit Request at the top or bottom of the screen which returns them to their recommendation status page. At the top of the screen, a green status bar shows the teacher's name and the number of request for the student.
8. From here, the student will see the status for all Teacher Recommendations requests that have been made. (All applications or college specific)
1. From Naviance Student, navigate to Colleges > Apply to College > Request Transcripts.
2. Click the Add (Pink Plus).
3. Select either College Application Transcript or Other Transcript.
4. Follow the steps depending on the transcript selection.
5. Once requested, transcript requests can be managed by counselors from Transcript Request Manager.
