empathy: standing in another's shoes
“When you talk, you are only repeating what you already know. But if you listen, you may learn something new.”
– Dalai Lama
Announcements for this Week:
Our annual food drive is THIS WEEK! We're trying to collect 90,000 pounds of food for AZCEND. Every day that your child brings something to donate, they will receive a ticket to have NO grammar homework for that night! We're striving for 100% participation to earn a donut party in class!
Monday: feast ready (think heavy- beans, canned veggies, rice, etc.)
Tuesday: side dishes (anything for a side dish for Thanksgiving!)
Wednesday: water (bring a case of water!)
Thursday: household essentials (detergent, cleaning supplies, paper towels, etc)
Friday: frozen turkeys!
The Turkey Trot is Friday, November 21. Please have your child wear BLACK! If you'd like to volunteer or help out, please let the office know!
There is NO SCHOOL for Thanksgiving Break November 24-28.
Home Support:
Please continue to work on multiplication facts with your child. If you need ideas of what to do, please let me know! Division and fraction concepts will be much easier to grasp with a solid knowledge of multiplication facts. Every student should be adding a few minutes of fact practice into their routine!
Virtue Focus: Empathy
This week we'll be discussing how empathy looks in preparation for Thanksgiving. How can we serve others? How can we recognize people's needs? How can we be thankful for what we have? Our food drive is an awesome way to encourage and teach this virtue!
