For this writing assignment you need to write an alternative ending for the play. Your alternative ending does NOT need to be written in the same play format as Romeo and Juliet. Instead, write the new ending as a narrative story.
· You need to incorporate details from the play (like characters, diction, setting)
· You can choose to start your alternative ending at any point in the play, but your new ending should be right at one-page hand-written in length.
· You will be graded on how well your ending fits within the play (theme) and the period it would have been performed (having aliens kidnap Romeo is too far-fetched).
· You will be graded on how well you add narrative technique:
Here are literary and writing terms that relate to narrative technique: plot, action, dialogue, character development, detail, vivid words, figurative language like ‘simile’ and ‘alliteration,’ mood, bridge words to show time/chronology.
· You will be graded on how well-written your ending is (are there grammatical or spelling errors?), and the neatness of your overall project (make sure we can read it).
· We will use the Georgia Milestones EOC Narrative assessment rubric to give you feedback that will help you improve your narrative writing for the EOC test.

Third Person POV:
“My love, my dear Juliet. Won’t thee open thy wondrous eyes,” whispered Romeo, as he leaned over Juliet’s body and swept her silken hair from her pale face.
At that moment, Juliet’s eyes began to flutter. Her long lashes brushed against Romeo’s tear streaked face. “Romeo?” Juliet murmured. “Romeo?”
Romeo turned to look into Juliet’s now open eyes. “

I pull back the gauzy covering from Juliet’s face. “My beautiful wife,” I whispered. I could not believe how her cheeks still glowed with the bloom of life. “Please wife, wait for me to join you in the journey to the afterlife.”
As I dug into my pockets for the bless’d vial that would allow me to join my dear Juliet, I felt only a hole in my pocket. “No,” I shouted. Where is my death-giving life! Where did I drop the vial? I desperately searched my satchel, but with no luck.
“Juliet, I have not failed you yet. With this dagger I will join thee.” Just as I was about to take my dagger to ….
