The Bay Area has many transportation options that have lower ecological and financial impacts than cars, such as AC Transit bus lines, the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system, and bike-share programs. Private business ventures, such as scooter-sharing, are also options for Bay Area residents.
The image to the left depicts the differences between various modes of transportation. As shown, cars require significantly more resources to transport people as well as space to move around. Alternatively, bikes and buses take up less space and emit less carbon than their automobile counterpart.
