Where do our views and notions of environmentalism come from? What are some underlying issues for environmental challenges, and what is the history behind these issues? These are all questions that an environmental justice perspective seeks to answer. Injustice against communities of color, particularly Black & Indigenous communities, mar the history of the United States from its creation. Genocide, eugenics, and other acts of violence (like gentrification) continue to inform modern policies that are against low-income communities & communities of color - both domestically and internationally. Moving forward, people power strategies like joining unions, striking, running for local office, and mutual aid are of utmost importance to create changes in our racist & classist systems.

We believe that all people (regardless of class privilege, ethnicity, gender, ability or age) deserve access to clean drinking water, safe open-spaces, nutritious organic food and healthy meaningful work. All of our programs work to cultivate social changes that lead to sustainability in these areas.
We are building a grassroots climate movement in the Bay Area & beyond that eliminates carbon pollution and presses for socially equitable solutions and a just transition to clean energy.
We protect and restore San Francisco Bay for people and wildlife, uniting the Bay Area to create a clean and healthy Bay. As climate change and pollution threaten the Bay, we lead initiatives to make our region sustainable for future generations.
