At Beoley First School staff fully recognise their moral and statutory responsibilities for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.  All staff have read and understood a copy of Keeping Children Safe in Education 2024 (at least Part 1 and Annex A).  Teaching and Support Staff also receive regular training in line with WCSB recommendations. Safeguarding exists as a standing item on the agenda of all staff meetings and briefings and within the terms of reference for all our schools’ governing body committees. 

All staff maintain an ‘it could happen here’ attitude at all times and are encouraged to be vigilant and show professional curiosity with regard to all safeguarding and welfare issues.   All concerns are reported to either Steve Philp (Headteacher, Designated Safeguarding Lead) , Claire Halliwell (Deputy Headteacher, Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead), or Rebecca Bartlett (Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead).

The school aims to ensure that:

• Appropriate action is taken in a timely manner to safeguard and promote children’s welfare

• All staff are aware of their statutory responsibilities with respect to safeguarding

• Staff are properly trained in recognising and reporting safeguarding issues
