Year 2 intent

Holt Class at Beoley First School is our class for Year 2 children and the final year of Key Stage One. Consolidation is the focus in Year 2, with children broadening and deepening their understanding of many of the concepts taught in Year 1. Children begin the year consolidating their phonics learning from Year 1 and most children will progress from the phonics scheme to the Book Bands as they continue their journey to independent reading. They also continue their maths journey through a curriculum based on the White Rose resources, deepening their understanding as they work towards mastery. Across the foundation subjects children will develop their knowledge in a range of disciplines as they prepare for Key Stage 2.
