Reading

The first experience the children at Beoley First School have of reading is a systematic, synthetic phonics scheme called 'Floppy's Phonics'. This is a rigorous and proven solution for ensuring all children can have the very best starting in their journey as readers. We recognise that children come from a variety of starting points and experiences: by using Floppy's Phonics, no matter what their prior learning they can all achieve mastery of phonics and harness this to become fluent readers and excellent spellers.
