Building and Construction Trades Pathway - Residential and Commercial Construction Pathway
This pathway provides a foundation in the Building and Construction trades industry. Students engage in an instructional program that integrates academic and technical preparation and focuses on career awareness, career exploration, and skill preparation in the Building and Construction Trades industry. This pathway emphasizes processes, systems, and the way in which structures are built. The program integrates hands-on, project-based, and work-based instruction and is designed to prepare students for technical training, post-secondary education, and entry to a career.

Get Focused Required freshman course CTE Construction & Building Technology I CTE Construction Technology II Prerequisite: Completion of Construction & Building Trades I.
Careers/Career Areas: Cabinet making, cabinet installation, machine operations, electrical, plumbing, and framing, building inspector, carpenter, estimator
CTE CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY I This course covers the vital skills necessary to enter the residential and light commercial construction trades. Skills range from safety, hand and power tool usage, to framing and finish trim. Students will gain hands-on experience of most construction components from the foundation to the shingles (electrical, plumbing, and framing are included in these courses.) The goal is for students to leave this course with the skills to enter directly into the construction trades, the confidence to continue woodworking as a personal hobby or maintain their personal property.

CTE CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY II Prerequisite: Completion of full year of Construction Technology 1 This competency-based course prepares students to work in the construction industry. The course is designed to provide students with technical instruction and practical experience in basic residential and commercial construction through classroom instruction and applied practice of field skills. At the end of the course, students research and evaluate apprentice, employment and secondary schooling opportunities.
