Tips:
- Don't wait until the last minute, because the application servers can crash when overwhelmed (plus it's more stressful)!
- Always hit "Save & Continue" before exiting the application.
- Work on essays outside of the application. If left idle for too long, they can time out and you'll lose all your hard work.
- SAT/ACT Testing is no longer used to make admissions decisions by UCs. If you submit a score, it will only be used for English and Math placement, but your transcript can be used as well. If a student is only applying to UC and/or CSUs we do not recommend taking the SAT/ACT.
- Some majors have a supplemental application that will come up in a gray box (depends on major AND campus). Please make sure you follow those instructions to submit this information. Your application won't be considered if you don't complete this part.
- Don't link to any blogs, YouTube, Instagram, etc. unless it's a part of a supplemental application. It will not be looked at.
- Articulated classes (where you earn college credit for a BHS class) should be listed under the "College courses taken in high school" section in Academic History. Some of these include Digital Media, Intro to Engineering and Architecture, Intro to Medical Careers, etc. Enter these courses ONLY under college, not under BHS,
How to enter grades on the UC application:
How to enter grades on the UC application:
- After selecting Benicia High School, choose A-F for grading and semester and quarter for the term system.
- Benicia High School Code: 050280
- We are on the semester, weighted gpa, out of 4.0
- State student ID is in the bottom left corner of your transcript under "Class of 20**"
- Not all the single semester classes taken opposite Get Focused should be added. Only World Geography is UC approved. Computer Tech and Art do not get entered, nor does PE (they do not meet UC A-G requirements).
- With the 4x4 schedule, enter all 8 classes as if you took them for a full year, with their grades.
- To enter Gov/Econ: select the class, then semester for the term. The site will default to IP for in progress and PL for planned. Make sure to change the second semester to NO for no grade for the course you are in now. For the second semester course, select NO for no grade for S1 and PL for S2.
