January 2024

Welcome Back!

Happy New Year! We hope all of our Primary Talent Pool enjoyed the holidays. We are excited to be back at school and are ready to dive back into learning. Check out what's happening in PTP this month.

In Kindergarten students are learning about visual clues. They are looking at pictures to solve problems and find answers.

In first grade students are being introduced to Sybil the Scientist who studies the parts of things in order to sort and classify them. Students are learning how to develop their own ideas to classify objects while focusing on analytical thinking.

In second grade students are learning about the SCAMPER thinking strategy. SCAMPER is a creative problem-solving method that helps students think differently and develop innovative solutions. Ask your child if they can explain the letters in the acronym.

In third grade students are learning about visual thinking. Visual thinking allows students to use their right brain hemispheres to analyze shapes in detail and recognize patterns. Students are having lots of fun trying to solve visual puzzles.

Math Enrichment

In math enrichment we are working on esti mysteries. In these mysteries, students are asked to use their knowledge about numbers and patterns to correctly estimate the objects in a picture. Using clues, students are also using the skill of elimination as they look for the correct answer.
