WElcome Back to School!

Hello families! My name is Ashley Ritchie and I am so excited to take over the Beechwood Gifted and Talented Program. This is my 19th year in education and my 11th at Beechwood. I have experience teaching second, third and fourth grades. My Masters Degree in is K-8 Science Education and I am National Board Certified. I am also working on my Gifted and Talented Endorsement.

This website is a great resource for parents to learn more about the Primary Talent Pool, to find resources, and to learn about what's happening at school. I will add a monthly newsletter the last week of each month so that you can see some of the amazing things students are doing!

What's Happening in PTP

Students will begin receiving PTP services in September. Each grade level's activities will look a little different. Here's what's planned for the upcoming month.

In first grade students will be using the PETs (Primary Education Thinking) and Project LIFT curriculum. Both programs work to identify exceptional talents in students and teach higher order thinking skills to all students. Classes will be taught twice a month.

In second grade students will receive push-in services in their classroom once a week. This month students will be working through several team builiding challenges that involve critical thinking. In math enrichment, which meets twice a month, students will be working on problem solving.

In third grade students will be receiving push-in services twice a week in the classroom during language arts instruction. Math enrichment will take place twice a month and students will be working on problem solving.
