February 2024

In Kindergarten students students are learning about visual and spatial thinking.  We are learning about how shapes and lines can be transformed into something new. We are also learning about picture sodoku puzzles.

In first grade students are learning about scientist thinking. Students are learning that data can be sorted in different ways and that there are different rules that can be used for sorting. Students are also working on compare and contrast.

In second grade students are using the SCAMPER thinking strategy. We started with design and now students are transferring their knowledge of SCAMPER to working with numbers.

In third grade students students are learning about visual thinking. Students learned the Four Color Map Theorem and are now working with visual analogies.  Some students are also working on using word puzzles to solve clues.

Math Enrichment

In math enrichment, we are working on using logic to better understand numbers. We are using Sodoku puzzles, logic grids, and guessing games. All of these activities involve using number sense and logic to detect missing numbers.
