The first grade social studies curriculum has a large focus on families now and long ago, near and far. Students will begin to understand how families have changed over time and how our families differ from families around the world.

We will also begin to learn how the world is organized spatially as we investigate land forms, bodies of water, and maps.

Another important concept is that of being a good citizen. We will focus on being responsible, working together, following the rules, and respecting others even when their ideas differ from our own.
