As we approach the end of the year, we have a number of logistical things to handle with instruments. The last day students will need their instrument for class is Friday, May 17th. Please read the information below carefully to determine what your child should do with their instrument after that date.
If you are renting your instrument from Buddy Rogers (or any other music company like Hauer, Absolute Music, etc.) please continue to rent their instrument over the summer. Not only is summer break a great time for your student to practice and develop their musical skills, but if you return their instrument and try to rent it again in the fall, you will lose all the money you have paid towards this instrument so far. All students should take their personal instruments home for the summer after school on Friday, May 17th.
If you rent your child’s instrument from Buddy Rogers but they are not going to be with us next year for any reason and you want to return their instrument, we can return it to Buddy Rogers for you. Students are responsible for physically handing their instrument to us on their turn-in date. We cannot return instruments that are not given to us (e.g. left in a student's locker). We will have each student sign a list to verify we have collected their instrument. All students should return their instruments to us on Monday, May 20th.
ALL Students must turn in ALL school-owned equipment on Monday, May 20th. This includes all mouthpieces as well as at-home instruments. Please make sure their name is on the case with either a name tag or a piece of masking tape.
6TH/7TH GRADE – If your child is continuing in band next year, they will actually receive their instrument for next year before they leave for summer vacation. We will need a new rental form to be submitted before we can give them their new horn. You can download a copy HERE and we have them available in class - Please sign this form and return it to school as soon as possible (don’t worry about the serial number – we will fill that in when they get their new horn). Once we have checked all the instruments on May 20th and received a rental form from your student, we will give them their new instrument and they can take it home for the summer. You do not need to pay your rental fee again until we start school next fall.
8TH GRADE – Students will turn in instruments/mouthpieces on Monday, May 20th. 8th graders who are continuing on in band at the high school can borrow an Ankeney instrument for the summer – They will need to turn in a rental form (Available HERE)
As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have.
