Google Jamboard is a digital whiteboard that allows for remote or in-person collaboration on a shared space. Students or colleagues can sketch out ideas, problem solve, or draw collaboratively and synchronously. Then they can save their work to Google Drive, as a PDF to their computer, or as individual images of specific frames.
Research shows that summarizing is a high-impact instructional strategy that supports lesson retention in all content areas. Summarizing is a powerful thinking strategy that promotes the ability to make decisions about information in efficient ways. Jamboard is a fantastic tool to promote summarizing in your classroom. Additionally, by allowing students to see each other's summary, you are creating a student-centered lesson that provides scaffolding to students that are not sure where to start. Students can create a summary of a chapter, a daily lesson, a math strategy, an article, etc. Interested in how to get started? Check out the video above.
Jamboard is a fantastic EdTech tool for displaying student learning. Based on the success criteria of a lesson, students can demonstrate their understanding by creating learning artifacts and post on a Jamboard. For example, if students are learning a new Math strategy, they can create a page in a class Jamboard of the steps to solve the problem. Additionally, students can post an image that represents a vocabulary word they are currently learning. By posting student learning artifacts in a Jamboard, students can review each other's work, give feedback, and/or ask questions, promoting a student-centered learning environment.
