10th Grade: 2020-2021

This was my least favorite year of High School.  Everything was online, and I did not have many opportunities to live out the 4 pillars of JAGS. We were very fortunate to have a choice of in-person learning, and this included JAGS projects. For GO Night - COVID Edition, I was in a group with Ben Snyder, Alayna Palvis, Karsyn Bellew, and Chloe Manello. For GO Night, our assignment was to use our knowledge of the United Nations' 17 sustainable development goals to complete a service project, and then present our findings. This project was a success, and it helped me boost my morale in a depressing time.  Toward the end of the year, we had another JAGS project. This one was for Summit Night, a JAGS event designed to celebrate the seniors. For our Summit Night project, I partnered with Ben again, Owen Ensley, and Ethan Wakerley. This project was about researching how other countries view different problems facing the world and presenting your findings in a documentary-style video. I wish this project could have gone a lot better than it did. E-learning, poor communication, and lack of motivation led to our documentary becoming not much more than a pile of garbage.  While COVID tried to take another year of school away, I tried to stay confident and survive. With limited service opportunities available during this time, I found most of my enjoyment at Scouts. Whether it was completing merit badges to earn Eagle Scout, or hiking in the woods, Scouts helped me cope with my depressive thoughts.
