This week, I worked on a chocolate recipe from the food network celebrity Pioneer Women. She used many unique techniques such as browning the butter + adding flax seeds and using some instant coffee in the mix. She explains, "The Flax Seed in these chocolate chip cookies is entirely optional and doesn’t overwhelmingly change the flavor or texture of the cookie—but it gives it a little somethin’-somethin’ that sets the cookies apart from the fray."
Next week, I plan on making another chocolate chip cookie recipe from a new celebrity and rating/ saying what could be done better. Some advancements I believe I could make are choosing more recipes that have unique ingredients rather than just chocolate chips.
Yes, I did meet my goal this week. I was able to create and rank how I thought the cookie recipe was. Beyond this blog post, I was able to give my family cookies to try, which made them happy to have some cookies and made me feel good. I rated it an 8/10 because the cookie recipe had too much flour and it make the cookie thick. Also, it was missing the typical buttery flavor that a chocolate chip cookie has. I will say, the flax seeds were a good addition to the texture. There should have been a little more butter in the recipe. Overall, it still tasted amazing and they were eaten fast.
