I can explain the perspectives and methods of an individual, group, or artistic philosophy related to a global issue. This means I can explain how different people view the same issue. It also means I can explain the different methods people use to address and issue.

For each of my projects in Painting 2, I had to do studies on different artists and techniques. For this project I had to investigate Lorne Curry’s art and create my own piece inspired by his use of reflection and realism. During my research period I discovered that by his use of the 7 elements of art represented in his stillife paintings, Lorne Curry is able to “represent an ongoing exploration of the constants of life that connect us all as human beings” (Lorne Curry). Influenced by his use of reflection, light, space, and ordinary objects I came up with my piece. For my piece I used a ketchup bottle, two mirrors, and a black sheet to create my own representation of his style. The ketchup bottle is the main subject of the piece, however the emphasis on the bottle is due to the sort of dark void the mirrors and sheet create in the background. Though my piece at first my not appear to express the constants of life that connect us as humans, it does; each of the ketchup bottles can represent a different view on the same thing.
