What a busy week we have had in Year 2! In Science, the children have been learning about animals and what they need to survive, including food, water, shelter and air. They also explored animal diets, confidently identifying herbivores, carnivores and omnivores and explaining their ideas using scientific vocabulary.
In Maths, we have been learning about the properties of 2D shapes. The children practised identifying and describing shapes by counting sides and vertices and exploring lines of symmetry, using correct mathematical language with growing confidence.
A highlight of the week was a fantastic visit from MC Rental. The children were excited to explore inside the cab of a truck and were amazed to discover bunk beds and even a microwave. They learnt how to stay safe around large vehicles, understanding the importance of being visible and how drivers use cameras to check blind spots. In class, we also discussed the important role trucks play in communities by transporting essential goods such as food.
A huge thank you to MC Rental for taking the time to create a memorable experience for Year 2 and an excellent end to our unit of inquiry, even in the rain.
