NC Graduation Requirements and GPA
Each student must take a minimum of 28 credits to graduate. Students have the opportunity to earn 32 credits in their time at Owen, but at a minimum each student must take and pass the following classes in order to graduate.
English 1, 2, 3, 4
Math 1, 2, 3, 4 (Foundations of Math 1 can count as one of these)
Current 9th,10th, and 11th grade: World History, American History, Civics Literacy, Economics & Personal Finance
Current 12th grade: World History, American History I, American History II, Civics and Economics
Earth Science, Biology, Physical Science or Chemistry or Physics
Health and Physical Education
CPR Certification
Complete a Concentration or a Cluster:
C.T.E. Cluster Options: 2 credits from one of the following clusters:
Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources
Architecture and Construction
Hospitality and Tourism
Game Art, Audio/Video
Health Science
Manufacturing (Woodworking)
Law, Public Safety, Corrections and Security
Concentration Options: 4 credits from one of the following concentrations:
Fine Arts Education: 4 credits from Music, Dance, Theater Arts or Visual Arts including one second level class
JROTC: 4 credits
Physical Education: H/PE + 3 credits
Academics: 2 credits beyond minimum requirements
Second Language: 4 credits (may be one language or more; must have a second level class)
GPA: Grade Point Average
Standard courses: A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1
Honors courses: A=4.5, B=3.5, C=2.5, D=1.5
AP and AB Tech courses: A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2

Step 1: Add up all of your grade points
Step 2: Divide the added grade points from Step 1 by the number of classes taken.
