Administrators

Information for Administrators

During eLearning days, administrators are to help ensure that students have a meaningful learning experience and provide students and staff with support to complete learning objectives. For specific details, instructions, expectations, and resources related to the role of an administrator on an eLearning day, consult the resources below.

eLearning Day Updates 21,22

If an eLearning day will take place, all administrators will be contacted and the announcement will be posted via BCSC media outlets (website, e-Alerts, social media accounts). The BCSC Hotline will be available to address any student, parent, family, staff, or administrator needs during this time (812-418-0252).

Teachers are not required to report to school buildings. Teachers can utilize buildings for internet, with supervisor discretion. Teachers must post lessons on itslearning by 9 am (objectives, instructions, resources) and make themselves available for communication with students between 9 am and 3 pm. Teachers will need to plan ahead if they do not have WiFi access at home. If a student has communicated with a teacher, teachers are expected to respond within 30 to 45 minutes. Administrators also have access to coursework through their itslearning accounts.

Planning for Success

To help prepare all stakeholders, consider the action items below.

  • Distribute this Quick Reference sheet to staff, especially front office staff and administrative assistants

  • Make sure devices are being sent home.

    • This allows teachers, students, and families to practice taking devices home, logging into resources outside of the BCSC WiFi network, test connectivity, make plans, and practice for eLearning days.

  • Have teachers in your building send home login information with students.

  • Develop a communication game plan with stakeholders.

  • Practice eLearning lessons in your building.

    • Practicing eLearning lessons during the school day allows both teachers and students the opportunity to practice communicating, learning, and teaching online before an eLearning day. Practice days allow stakeholders to identify areas for improvements, make adjustments, and improve.

  • Communicate work expectations to hourly employees.

  • Plan to keep a record of staff contact information, their eLearning day plans, and where they will be working

    • Use this spreadsheet as an option and support to track staff on an eLearning day
