Featuring Matt Turner , former head of SAM at BT.
When BT acquired EE in January 2016, a monster was born. And the monster had a Frankenstein SAM function, as disparate units with different practices and priorities were forced to work together. One prized compliance and governance above all, the other was motivated by growth and speed of delivery. The man with the task of creating a harmonious SAM function was Matt Turner. In this session, Matt recalls the challenges and successes of bringing together two very different SAM team and establishing an effective SAM function for the UK’s largest telco.
In this panel session, we will be asking ourselves what ITAM will look like as a profession and as a discipline in 2029. Facilitated by Kylie Fowler, we'll be asking: what assets will we be managing? What will be our major challenges? What will ITAM careers look like? What tools will we require? and how will we be dealing with vendors? Above all, we'll be exploring how we will manage the trade-offs between security, cost management and agility to ensure our organisations achieve the right outcomes.

In this session we will examine the various sources of data and how it can be visualized to address true business goals, such as reducing over spend on software subscriptions, visualizing end of support risks, and identifying opportunities for cloud migration.
We all collect masses of data but without context that data has no value to your organization – what is the cost of doing nothing with this data? We will further examine how this data can be best visualized based upon the audience, after all what makes a compelling story to the finance team might not to the security team.
With the increasing shift of business applications into the cloud, organisations are often looking to transition their on- premise infrastructure software licences into public cloud platforms but are not always aware of the risks. This session will look at some of the pitfalls and gotchas of such a transition and help you to avoid unnecessary costs in the long term.
