Broughal's Rocket Band is welcome to all students who play a brass, woodwind, or percussion instrument. As a member of the band, students experience two engaging performance styles: Marching Band and Concert Band. The Rocket Band performs at school assemblies, annual concerts, and Music in the Parks - a competitive music festival held in the Spring at amusement parks across the country. Furthermore, the Rocket Band performs at numerous community concerts, parades, and sporting events such as the Lehigh Valley Ironpigs and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
Throughout the year, students will learn basic marching techniques in addition to proper performance technique and musicianship. The Rocket Band rehearses from 7:00 AM to 7:55 AM, every Wednesday and Friday.
The Band Front leads the Rocket Band in parades and consists of MAJORETTES and HONOR GUARD. Majorettes twirl batons and perform visual routines while the Rocket Band play music in parades and various performances. Members of the Honor Guard carry the school banner, national flag, state flag, city flag, school district flag, school flag, and rifles. All students are welcome to participate in these award-winning groups and are expected to demonstrate dedication, determination, and all other qualities of a respectful student.
Practices are held from 7:00 AM to 7:55 AM, every Wednesday and Friday. Additional practices may be scheduled but are published at least 24 hours in advance. Sign-ups and auditions for the Band Front occur in the Spring. Please contact the Band Director or Band Front Director for more details.
