The annual Horizon Report provides an analysis of popular technologies used in schools. It also predicts the adoption of new technologies. I found the information in the report useful but I was not purchase new technologies based on popularity. The primary consideration would be how useful is the technology to learning.
In the following activity, a cost benefit analysis of virtual reality devices was completed. This was useful to me since my district was exploring the use of Google Cardboard. Since the completion of the course, I have worked with our secondary math coach to make Google Expeditions available as a pilot program to teachers and students using iPad minis that were purchased for a different purpose but were not being used.
This task required me to complete a Shark Tank style pitch for a technology that I would like to see adopted by more teachers in my district. I choose Google Drive for Desktop since my district has been encouraging teachers to use Drive for Desktop in place of the network drives that are stored on old servers that are expensive to maintain and replace.
