Athletics/OSAA Activities

Attendance - Each student shall be in attendance at school all day and each day practices, contests, performances, or activities are held unless the absence is prearranged or excused through the Athletic Director or the Principal. A participant shall be in all classes on Friday to be eligible to participate in an activity during the weekend unless prearranged or excused by the Athletic Director or the Principal.

Late Return from Contest - Athletes who return to Bandon after a contest at 12: 00 PM or later will be allowed to miss 1st period as an excused absence. It is the athlete's responsibility to check in with their 1st-period teacher at break, lunch, or after school to receive instruction on any work that they missed. Please note that this 1st-period attendance does NOT follow our homework policy - work, notes, and or quizzes /tests will be due the next day.

Academic Eligibility -  OSAA eligibility requires that a participant be passing 5 out of 7 classes and have accumulated a minimum number of credits by the start of each school year. Additionally, BHS policy requires any participant not maintaining a 2.00 GPA to be placed on academic probation (please reference BHS Athletic Code).   Students must get their “F” to passing within two weeks or they will fall to ineligible status at the beginning of the third week with that same F.

Pay to Participate

Students who choose to participate in OSAA-sponsored events, except Band and Choir, will pay according to the following "Pay-to-Play" schedule. Pay to Play Fees are due in the office prior to the first contest. If payment is not received students will not be allowed to compete or participate in contests until the fee has been paid. Students should talk to the Athletic Director or Administration if this is a hardship. Families can request a payment plan if needed by contacting the Athletic Director or Administration, in some cases scholarships are offered.

Physical Examinations

Students must have a record of passing an OSAA physical examination at least every other year on file with the office prior to practice and competition in athletics and may not participate without said record on file.
