Outcome 2
Finished Artworks
Finished Artworks
Bill Henson Untitled 57,58, 1983-84
Type C photograph
100 x 80 cm; Diptych
Edition of 10
For your first finished artwork you will produce a diptych (2 images) in the style of Bill Henson.
One of your two images must be a sky or landscape and the other must be a portrait, but both images must reference some common aesthetic qualities of Hensons work.
Ideally your two images should compliment each other with their style and mood and convey some sort of connected theme.
You will need to document the construction of your artwork in your visual diary and be sure to include all trials and tests.
Also be sure to include screen shots of all photoshop adjustment settings and before and after shots of their impact on the images.
Your final submission should also include a 300 word reflection on the construction of this artwork and how you feel your intended aesthetic qualities have been realised.
See examples of previous student work below.
For your second finished artwork we are producing an Anne Zahalka style image in Photoshop. Zahalka has created many montage style images using elements from Australian art and culture and in some cases her own photography.
The focus of these images is always a comment on Australian culture, either from an environmental perspective, identity perspective or a combination of both.
Your final artwork should combine a background image with at least 3 additional elements, designed to make commentary on some aspect of Australian culture and/or art history.
The following is a checklist for you to work through in the construction of this artwork.
Development of a comment, idea or observation about Australian culture. If you are stuck at this point consider generating a mind map to stimulate ideas.
Sourcing of suitable imagery to construct your image. If you are unsure of what to use just grab anything you think could work and try it out.
Be sure to document attempts that do not workout as you hoped as this is valuable development work you can include in your visual diary.
Be sure to describe all the photoshop tools and techniques you have used in the construction of your artwork in your visual diary.
And don’t forget your all important 300 word reflection!
