BIS Timeline 2024-2025
Introduction to the Personal Project. The presentation takes place in the Library with grade 9 students and parents. Questions and answers.
Personal Project Proposals Submitted. Students need to have a topic prepared by the following weeks for approval.
Prepare a summary of the ideas and research. Discuss the following:
Product (what they want to create and why)
A Learning goal (what they want to learn about)
Entry point. Where you are drawing inspiration from - Choose between Personal Interest, Global context, SaA or a Unit of Inquiry with a description of why they are interested and their motivation
Inquiry questions about their learning goal and product goals
Initial research into their inquiry questions
An investigation into useful sources
Ideas about how they are going to evaluate your product (criteria)
How they plan on recording their progress (process journal)
Start the action plan
Students must upload their Action Plan and their Success Criteria for their product/outcome before leaving on summer break!
TERM 1
STEP 1: Contact & set up an appointment with the student supervisor.
Students need to be prepared to share:
Learning Goal
Product Goal
Start creating success criteria with multiple criteria/strands/levels of achievement and an action plan to help them complete their product.
STEP 2: Students manage their Personal Project Workspace on Toddle
Upload their proposal, and goals and select their supervisor on Toddle. Once completed, success criteria and action plans can be uploaded as separate documents.
STEP 3: The planning stage is completed
Goals, Success Criteria and Action Plans for their product/outcome should all be posted on Toddle.
Post the student's first reflection on the Academic Honesty form
Begin work on their product.
STEP 4: Supervisor check-in and 1st Academic Honesty note signed
Students must show their supervisors the following:
Evidence that they have started work on their product.
A refined action plan and show evidence of their initial work on their learning or product goals.
Official Student Registration completed on IBIS
TERM 2
STEP 5: Research and work on students' products. Follow their action plan.
STEP 6: Supervisor check-in
Students must show their supervisor the following:
Evidence of Research
Completed goal
Summary of action plan completed
Their supervisor will pass on any concerns to the PPCO
STEP 7: Report - Planning (Criterion A)
Students submit the following on Toddle:
A learning goal
Explain how a personal interest led to that goal
Their intended product
Develop appropriate success criteria for their product
Present an action plan for achieving their product and success criteria.
STEP 8: Report - Applying skills (Criterion B)
Students submit the following on Toddle:
Explain how their chosen ATL skill(s) was/were applied to help achieve their learning goal
Explain how their chosen ATL skill(s) was/were applied to help achieve their product.
STEP 9: Meeting with supervisor to receive feedback on Criteria A-B and 2nd Academic Honesty note signed
The supervisors record feedback from the meeting on Toddle.
Deadline to record second meeting by both supervisors and students on Academic Honesty form.
Semester 1 Reports to be written on students' progress.
Reminders to the parents for those whose work is inadequate or slow.
STEP 10: Report: Reflecting (Criterion C)
Students submit the following on Toddle:
Explain the impact of the project on themselves or their learning
Evaluate their product based on their success criteria
STEP 11: Meeting with supervisor to receive feedback on Criterion C
The supervisor records feedback from the meeting on Toddle.
STEP 12: Report draft due
Submission of PP Complete Draft Report on Toddle.
STEP 13: Meeting with the Supervisor to receive feedback on the PP Draft Report and 3rd Academic Honesty note signed
The supervisor records feedback from the meeting on Toddle.
Deadline to record the last meeting by both supervisor and yourself on the Academic Honesty form.
20th February 2025
STEP 14: The final deadline for the Report and Product is due.
Images of their product are uploaded to Toddle. Any recordings are uploaded.
The product is signed off by the supervisor.
Upload their final report to Toddle including their student number. The Academic Honesty Form will be filled out and given to the PPCO for approval.
All of the student's work must be uploaded onto Toddle in PDFs and labelled correctly
TERM 4
STEP 15: Personal Project Exhibition
This is where students get to showcase their Personal Projects. They must set up their own stall to present their project. The parents, other students and teachers will be invited to view and ask questions regarding their PP.
