Introduction
The IB places great importance on the expression of a student’s personality and understanding, as measured by the Personal Project. The Personal Project is the culminating assessment of the IB Middle Years Programme. Over the course of Year 5, students engage in rigorous inquiry, research, and action to achieve a learning and product goal of their own design.
The Personal Project is your opportunity to produce a truly personal, original, and creative piece of work. It will help prepare you for the IB Diploma Programme as it is based on self-directed inquiry. A successful Personal Project will require skills that are essential to us all as lifelong learners: self-motivation, evaluation of sources of information, application of information, citation of sources, and reflection on our learning.
The personal project consists of a process, a product and a report.
The report is the only component that is assessed, but the report reflects both the process and the product.
