"O my God! O my God! Unite the hearts of Thy servants, and reveal to them Thy great purpose. May they follow Thy commandments and abide in Thy law. Help them, O God, in their endeavor, and grant them strength to serve Thee. O God! Leave them not to themselves, but guide their steps by the light of Thy knowledge, and cheer their hearts by Thy love. Verily, Thou art their Helper and their Lord." - Baha’u’llah

A Rich Tapestry is a video storytelling series that expresses and illustrates how love is being translated into action to address questions of race and culture in the United States. This collection of video stories provides authentic examples of how individuals, communities and institutions are weaving together a rich tapestry of community life in neighborhoods across America. The strands of this tapestry include efforts to expand and consolidate vibrant patterns of Baha’i community life, to contribute to public discourse on topics of race and diversity, and to take direct social action in collaboration with like-minded groups and individuals.

These short videos tell the story of how one Bahá’i community is learning to translate love into action in response to a tragic injustice in their midst. Although media can be a passive process with viewers looking in on the actions of others, it is hoped that you will actively engage with these segments as a tool to further your own efforts to improve our society. This guide provides excerpts from messages of the Universal House of Justice and National Spiritual Assembly of the United States. that are referenced in the videos along with questions for your consideration. Naturally, you might develop additional questions based on your own meditation on the oneness of humanity. You might also find it helpful to read the guidance and questions before watching the video segment.

"Awareness of the spiritual reality of human beings carries with it the moral requirement that all be given every opportunity to fulfill their potential and to contribute to the advancement of civilization."

- National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of the United States, February 25, 2017 letter addressed to the American Bahá’í community

For more than 40 years, the environmental justice movement has shown that communities of color, low-income communities, and indigenous groups are differentially burdened by environmental hazards, noxious land uses, and pollution leading to poor health outcomes and health inequities.”

"the whole of the human race can be illumined with the light of unity, and the remembrance of His Name is able to set on fire the hearts of all men, and burn away the veils that intervene between them and His glory. One righteous act is endowed with a potency that can so elevate the dust as to cause it to pass beyond the heaven of heavens."
