Federal Functional Classification (FFC) defines the role that a particular roadway segment plays in serving the flow of traffic. Every public road in the state is assigned one of seven federal functional classes that are grouped together as arterials, collectors, or local roads. The classifications are important as they can influence funding for roadway projects.
