Below you can see the habitat enhancements we (fifth-grade students) have created to attract people—community members, teachers, students, and families—to our science garden, nature trail, and vernal pool. Go to the menu in the top right to learn more about the process we used and to view the baseline data we collected to learn more about the problem and our users.
We used a variety of tools to make our creations, including craft and art materials, recyclables and the school’s 3D printer. We added sensors to some of our habitat enhancements, to collect, analyze and share data about the biotic and abiotic factors in our schoolyard ecosystem. The sensors also allow some enhancements to interact with visitors.
