Harvard Forest

Sensor Lesson

In the Harvard Forest Museum we talked to real Harvard scientists mostly about sensors and how they work. We got to guess which sensor was which. Then we were off into the forest to see the sensors in action. By the time we got back it was lunch and then we went back to the school, most of us with wet feet!

Field Network

We went outside and onto the trail and saw the data towers. The towers use sensors to collect a lot of data like air temperature, humidity, precipitation, radiation, barometric pressure, wind speed and direction, and soil temperature. We also got to see a hydro station that records stream discharge and water temperature.
