Volunteers make it Possible!
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with AWeSOMe!
We have been operating in McCall for since 2002
We could not do it without our dedicated, skilled team of volunteers.
New Volunteer Information:
Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Qualified Junior volunteers (16 and 17 years old) are welcome, with parent’s permission, and may have opportunity to earn school credits, gain leadership skills, build disability awareness, and give back to society.
We have annual trainings at the start of every season. If you are interested in attending please complete the volunteer application form. Inquiries regarding volunteering may be sent to info@awesomemccall.org . Additional training opportunities will be scheduled throughout the season.
New volunteers are initially paired with experienced instructors until ready to be a lead instructor. Most lessons are taught on a 2 instructors to 1 student ratio.
Volunteer hours may qualify for fulfillment of some requirements for universities, continuing education programs or community service programs. Please let us know if you are obtaining credit for your volunteer time.
All volunteers must undergo a background check and complete on-line SafeSport training to learn to recognize and report abuse.
Summer Volunteers:
New summer volunteers are asked to commit to at least 3 lesson days plus training. Lessons typically are a 2 hour volunteer commitment.
Winter Volunteers:
Ski/Snowboard volunteers should be at least intermediate skiers/boarders, skiing/riding basic parallel turns on typical “blue square” rated runs. Comfort and confidence are more important than technical precision.
New winter volunteers are asked to sign up for at least 6 lesson program days. Most winter lessons occur on Saturdays between 9:30am and 2:00pm, however we do offer some mid-week lessons as well.
Volunteers must provide their own ski equipment including a helmet.
Helmets are required for all volunteers and participants for alpine skiing and snowboarding.
Volunteers receive a complimentary day lift ticket for the day of training or teaching and are free to ski on their own using the ticket, after training or lesson(s) are over. After the first year of training, there may be opportunity for those with a high level of continuing commitment to the program to be granted a season pass for subsequent seasons of teaching. Standards for this are set by Brundage Mountain, Tamarack and our Board of Directors each year.
What to do next:
Complete the volunteer application form (click on the Volunteer Application Form at the bottom of the page).
You will be asked to sign our waiver at your first in-person training (see below).
Our staff will contact you.
All volunteers are required to sign a waiver and fill out an application, complete a background check and an on-line safety course.
Please submit to the chris@awesomemccall.org prior to participation in the program.
Click to read the waiver. You will be asked to sign a current year/season liability waiver "in person" before participating in any AWeSOMe! activity.
Please register online. You will also need to sign a waiver. You can print, sign and bring that form with you.
