My Experience

I earned my Bachelor degree from Grand Valley State University in 2021 where I majored in Integrated Science with a minor in French.

I studied abroad in Paris and Bordeaux France. Such an amazing experience.

This is my fourth year teaching Middle School Science at GATE, and I am so excited for the year to begin!

This is my husband Tyus, he's a certified Arborist who specializes in tree care and maintenance. If you ever need help with your trees, feel free to reach out to him! :)

Willow

This is my beautiful three and a half year old daughter! She is about to start 3 year preschool this year! She has the curliest hair, the most spunk and is so smart!

Eleanor

This is my beautiful five year old daughter! She about to start Kindergarten this year! She is adventurous, curious, full of energy and an animal lover!

Google Classroom

Google Classroom is an essential tool in our class, where I share current notes and occasionally post assignments for students to complete and submit online. Once students receive their Chromebooks, I will help them log in and get set up. It’s a great way to stay organized and access important materials throughout the year.

All Middle School Science courses are aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Each grade level focuses on a specific area of science:

Integrated Science A – Physical Science Standards
Integrated Science B – Earth and Space Science Standards
Integrated Science C – Life Science Standards

These standards ensure a consistent, high-quality science education that builds year to year.

Unit Packets

For each science unit—such as Waves, for example—students receive a Unit Packet that includes everything they’ll need for that topic: notes, practice pages, labs, graphs, and review materials.

The packet is not meant to be completed all at once. Instead, we work through it together, step by step in class. I’ve designed these packets to keep students organized and reduce the need to hand out dozens of individual pages throughout the unit.

Each day, we tackle a portion of the packet together—taking notes, completing activities, and practicing new concepts. Students are given class time to complete practice pages, but if that time isn’t used wisely, those pages may become homework.

The entire packet is due on the day of the unit test, serving as both a learning tool and a study guide.
