How can I access my student's Google Classroom as a parent/guardian?
Google Classroom is not accessible by parents. You can request a report that tells you which assignments your child has/has not completed, but Classrooms are only accessible by teachers and students.
How do I view grades and teacher comments?
You will need to use Parent Portal (guardians) or Student Portal (students). Avondale is currently transitioning to PowerSchool. After the transition is complete, assignments/grades will be visible in PowerSchool. We appreciate your patience as we wait for this to be ready.

When your middle school student is absent, you should:
Call the GATE attendance line: 248-537-6410 (notiy the office)
If your child attends any classes at AHS, you need to call their attendance line as well: 248-537-6110
When you call AHS, let them know it's a GATE student and which class(es) they will be missing.
It seems like there are a lot of places to look for grades (PowerSchool, Google Classroom, Big Ideas, IXL, etc.). Why isn't there just one place to check grades?
PowerSchool is the ONLY official grading portal. You can use this to check your student's grades/assignments. All other platforms are just a way for teachers to collect assignments -- they are the digital equivalent to a turn-in tray in a classroom. While a student may have submitted an assignment on one of these platforms, it is not officially received until it is marked in PowerSchool.
