Credits granted upon completion: A completed assignment is equivalent to 5 instructional days of work. Ten (10) credits will be earned upon successful completion of all assignments and a grade of 60% or better on each test.

Course Goals:

1. The student will become aware of how our nation grew from 1789 to 1900.

2. The student will become aware of the controversy and changes of the Progressive Era.

3. The student will become aware of the great changes in American life brought about by the Great Depression.

4. The student will understand the role of the United States in World War II.

The student will understand the postwar relationship between the United States and the Soviet Union.
The student will become aware of significant social, economic, and political changes of the postwar years.

7. The student will understand the struggle for civil rights for all Americans.

8. The student will place the historical past in historical perspective with an awareness of the influence of the Constitution.

Method of evaluation:

Teacher observation and review of student work.
Quizzes and/or tests (mastery level is 60% or better).*
Mastery level proficiency on benchmark exams.*
