Each of the lesson cycles below was created by a student in the freshman-level course, Introduction to Mexican American Studies, taught by myself at Austin Community College. Students decided on a grade level and content area appropriate for their lesson cycle, developed student learning goals and objectives for the cycle, and selected readings and assignments to assess those goals and outcomes. For many of the cycles you see here, you'll see a headnote written by the student in which they reflect on their hopes for how the lesson cycle is used as well as what additional materials they might add if they had more time. Some also reflect on the value of each lesson and Mexican American Studies in general on their own education as well as on the future of education in both K-12 and higher education settings.
More information about how students were introduced to each component of the lesson cycle planning and composing can be found on the "Recursos - Resources" page on this site.
A note on editing: as owner of the site, I have copy-edited each entry and lesson cycle; however, the substance and language of each lesson cycle is fully attributable to the students. -- Dr. Lydia CdeBaca-Cruz
