Who Is La Llorona?

What I want people to learn from my lesson cycle are the lessons about greed and being selfish and regretful for actions that have been done. The myth is tragic; you can find out that your actions have consequences. For La Llorona, she found out that she acted rashly and killed her children by drowning that she would be denied entry to heaven when she died. In her actions, she ended the lives of innocent children. That is to say, and the husband is not guilty because he also cheated on the wife, resulting in the children's death. And I feel that the main lesson is to beware of your actions, for they will have consequences. I want to research more in-depth to determine where the myth initially started if I have more time. If given a chance, I would add more questions to see if the stories can get the students and teachers to think more critically. -- L. Urquiza
By the end of this cycle, students will be able to:
Understand the story and lessons given out in La Llorona
Tell the story of La Llorona in vivid detail
The legend of La Llorona Ray John De Aragon
La Llorona: Ghost Stories of the Southwest Rodarte
The Curse of La Llorona
What do you think that the main lesson from this story is?
What is the version you have heard? Are the stories we've read similar to what you heard or different and in what ways?
Using the new stories and the story you heard as a child, can you think of any other story from another mythology similar to the La Llorona?
By watching the movie, do you believe that it brings justice to the legend of La Llorona? If not, what would you change to make it better?
Why do you believe that the story has survived all this time?
Why do you feel that parents have told the story to their children?
We will write two or three journals for this segment—one in the beginning, one in the middle, and the last near the end. For the first one, we write about how we would feel if our significant other did what La Llorona did or how La Llorona felt about discovering the affair and how you would punish the other. For the second, we will write about how we would retell the story to other people. And for the final segment, we will write about how this myth influences our culture.
For the project, you will have a choice between creating a comic book/sketch/book showing us the story of La Llorona. Make sure that the comics are colored.
You can make a video where you act and give a vivid visual of the story.
