What is a Learning Framework Class?
This course explores research and theory in the psychology of learning, cognition, and motivation, while considering various factors that influence learning. Emphasis is placed on the application of inclusive learning strategies and real life applications. Students will use assessments for identifying their strengths and weaknesses as strategic learners. Students are encouraged to integrate and apply the discussed learning skills across their academic programs, fostering effectiveness and efficiency in their learning journey. Developing these skills equips students to continually build academic confidence and practical skills for college and career.
Classroom Climate (in the tune of Aretha Franklin "R-E-S-P-E-C-T")
Learning takes place best in a setting where there is respect, positive regard, and freedom from distraction. It is my responsibility and intention to provide these conditions during the semester, and I will need your help to do so.
I genuinely care about your success and will do what I can to support you.
Every voice deserves to be heard.
Treat others with the respect and courtesy that you would want for yourself.
Course questions and comments are part of a safe learning environment
Students and professor will practice understanding, patience and empathy in class discussion and questions to the professor.
Class Expectations:
Participate actively and cooperatively (I want to hear your voice!).
Invest time studying outside of class and apply what you learn here and in your other classes.
Take responsibility for your learning so you know what you know (and what you don’t!)
Let me know when you need assistance or run into challenges that restrict your learning.
We have some fun along the way!
