Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) - Higher Education employees employed in a position that is eligible for the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) are automatically enrolled in TRS on their first day of employment.
Texas Optional Retirement Program (ORP) - Full-time faculty, librarians, and certain professionals and administrators employed in Texas public higher education are eligible to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) in lieu of TRS .
Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS) - The State of Texas Retirement program is a defined benefit retirement plan for eligible employees of State of Texas agencies, with mandatory participation with the exception of Higher Education employees who are enrolled into TRS.
