Employees enrolled in a Group Benefit Plan (GBP) health plan are automatically enrolled with $5,000 basic life insurance and $5,000 Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) at no cost. Employees also have the option of purchasing additional coverage (Refer to the Benefits Rates Sheet for your employee group, as ACC may cover some of these costs).
Optional Term Life Insurance Employees have the option to purchase additional coverage under Optional Term Life insurance.
Optional Term Life Insurance provides additional coverage including AD&D for up to four times your annual salary. During your first 31 days of employment, Optional Term Life is available without evidence of insurability (EOI) for plans that cover 1x or 2x your annual salary.
Coverage for 3x or 4x your annual salary requires evidence of insurability.
If you do not sign up as a new employee, you can apply when you have a qualifying life event or during Summer Enrollment period.
Dependent Term Life Insurance Employees can enroll their eligible dependents in term life insurance for an additional premium. The plan includes $5,000 term life with $5,000 AD&D for each covered family member. Eligible dependents include, spouse and children under the age of 26.
Voluntary Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance This policy provides financial support in the unfortunate event of injury or accidental Death. Employees can choose insurance policies starting at $10,000 or increase it in increments of $5,000 with a maximum policy of $200,000.
Short-Term Disability Insurance This policy provides financial support if you are unable to work due to a covered disability. Employees can only file a short-term disability claim in the event you are unable to work more than 30 days AND you have used all of your available sick leave.
Long-Term Disability Insurance (LTD) This policy provides financial support if you are unable to work due to a covered disability. Full-time employees are automatically enrolled for long-term disability coverage through an independent agency, UNUM, unless they choose to enroll in the LTD through ERS. Under the policy through UNUM, ACC will pay long-term disability of up to 60 percent of the employee's salary after exhausting sick leave and after an elimination period of 90 days.
UNUM LTD Insurance is not a part of the Group Benefits Program with ERS. ACC pays for this plan for Full-Time Employees ONLY. Since this is an ACC provided coverage, ERS will not have a record of it. You may have only one LTD Plan.
