BASIC COURSES: Your initial teaching eligibility was determined by the members of the Communication Studies Faculty Committee, based on three factors: 1) previous college-level teaching experience of Communication Studies courses offered at ACC, 2) graduate-level coursework completed in subjects that form the core content of these courses, and 3) your performance in the interview itself.
At any time during your employment as an adjunct faculty member, you may request to amend your teaching eligibility to be able to teach additional courses. Please review the categories to determine which procedure you will need to complete as part of your eligibility.
NOTE: Adding a course to your teaching eligibility does not guarantee that you will teach that course. Courses are staffed by adjunct faculty on an as-needed basis.
HIGH SCHOOL COURSE TRAINING: You do not have to complete this to get a dual-credit teaching spot, but it does have to be completed while you are teaching the class. Here is the link to the training.

Submit any documentation that would further demonstrate your knowledge and competence in the subject matter of the new course you want to teach.
o Documentation may consist of syllabus and evaluations from other institutions where you taught the course, enrollment in continuing education courses or discipline specific conferences, and/or enrollment in courses taken within the department.
o This documentation should be in the format of your Professional Development Plan for your Portfolio; detailed descriptions of these activities are appreciated.
Requests for eligibility updates should be submitted to the Assistant Department Chair for Faculty, and they will be reviewed as they are received.
Please note that the review of materials may take a considerable amount of time, so be aware that, if approved, you may not be granted a change in eligibility status in time for the next round of eStaffing. You will be kept aware of when materials are received, sent out for review, and when a final decision has been made regarding the instructor’s eligibility status.
If approved, faculty member may request a mentor or be assigned a mentor by the department chair to facilitate a successful experience for the faculty member.
