Gradebook Flags and Comments
Watch this video to understand how to use flags and comments in the Schoology Gradebook.
Click on flag by hovering over student grade to add a flag
Marked as missing automatically makes the assignment grade a 0
Incomplete does not assign any grade and overall grade does not change
Comments: be sure to click “display to student” (This also shows to parents)
💥Note: Flags do not sync over to PowerTeacher Pro but comments will
Creating Grading Groups
Use this feature to differentiate assignments and assessments. Create different groups to assign different problem sets, reading, etc. to.
Using the Bulk Edit Feature
Bulk Edit allows you to change names, category, points, factor, rubric, due date, and grading period all on one screen
Click into your Course
Click on "Gradebook" on the Left Side
Click on the 3 dots in the top right
Click "Bulk Edit"
Note: This is a great way to tell why something may not be syncing properly to PowerTeacher Pro
Using the Filters in Gradebook
Did you know that you can filter your gradebook by term, type of assignment, date created, due date, and type of grade earned? Here is how:
Dropping Lowest Grade
Did you know that Schoology will automatically drop the lowest grade in a specific category? Watch this video to show how:
In “Grade Setup” menu, click on the category
Choose “Drop Lowest” and indicate the number of assignments
Notes:
Teacher View: Does not show which assignments were dropped
Student View: The dropped assignments show up as crossed off in their gradebook
Adding a Grading Column for Paper Assignments
When giving a paper assignment, it is important to give feedback and grades in a places students normally look. Here is how to add a grading column for an assignment not given within Schoology. (This will also sync to PowerSchool if needed)
Click on Courses
Click "Gradebook"
Click the Plus Sign in the top right corner
Click "Add Grade Column"
Set up assignment like normal and grade within the gradebook
"Setting All Grades" for an Assignment
One way to quickly add grades for all students at once is by using the "Setting All Grades" Feature. Below are the 4 steps you need to take to do this.
